Classroom Procedures
|
| |
In order for the classroom to run more smoothly and efficiently we need to
follow a number of classroom procedures to assist with instruction and learning
on a daily basis.
Turning in Class work, Homework, and other assignments:
All assignments should be turned into the basket on Mrs. Gendelman’s desk.
Homework is due at the beginning of the hour and should be turned in before the
first bell rings. Any homework turned in after that will be considered late.
In-class assignments should be turned into the same basket as homework
assignments. The only appropriate time to turn assignments into the basket is
before class or during class time when instruction is not taking place. It
would be extremely rude to interrupt class by walking across the room to turn
in an assignment.
Passing back graded assignments:
Your class will have a designated colored folder. All graded papers will be
available for you to pick up in the folder labeled “GRADED.” There will be
times when I will pass the papers back myself. There will also be occasions
when I ask students to assist in passing back papers. You are always welcome to
look in your class folder for graded work when instruction is not taking place
in the class.
Supplies:
It is your responsibility to make sure that you have your own supplies in class
at all times. If for some reason you don’t have these supplies you should ask
to borrow them from your teacher before class begins or during a time when
instruction is not taking place. The same procedure applies for sharpening
pencils. Please do not leave your seat in the middle of instruction in order to
sharpen your pencil. This should be taken care of before class, after class and
at times when instruction is not going on.
Daily Agendas:
An agenda will be displayed on the television or projection system when you
enter class. It is your responsibility to review the agenda and record class
work and homework assignments in your personal agendas.
Too Cool Awards:
TOO COOL awards will be granted to students for outstand behavior and
participation in class. I will determine when TOO COOL awards will be passed
out. Please do not ask for them. It is also important that you only deposit
your awards in the TOO COOL box when instruction is not going on. Please do not
interrupt the flow of the class to walk across the room and make a deposit in
the TOO COOL Box.
Late Work and Absent Work:
Late work and absent work should be turned into the basket on Mrs. Gendelman’s
desk. Please make sure that is clearly labeled as ABSENT or LATE at the top of
your assignment. If you are turning in absent work make sure to write the date
or dates of your absence at the top of your paper.
Parking Lot:
The parking lot will be used for students to ask questions that they really
want to have answered but are not comfortable asking in class. In addition,
there may not always be time for me to answer all the questions during a class
period. If you write your question down and park it in the parking lot there is
an increased chance that you won’t forget the question. It will also assure
that I answer your question. Your questions can be about anything…maybe things
that are not even class related. I only ask that the questions be school
appropriate. Finally, you don’t have to tell me who you are. Your questions may
be posted anonymously.
